Why is cardiac rehab
important in India?

India is among the top countries in the world, in the number of heart disease patients and mortality. Compared to the western societies, our rates of cardiac diseases and death keeps increasing even if medical technology is progressing. Recurrent heart attacks progressively damage the heart, increases medication load and puts an increasing financial and social burden on the patient.

Even though excellent medications and development in coronary angioplasty and cardiac surgery have progressed immensely; this is often not enough for our society. Additionally, many of these interventions are expensive and often do not treat the root cause of progressive heart disease. Cardiac rehab provides a low-cost therapeutic strategy to prevent further cardiac events, prevent further angioplasty/surgery and to reduce your medication load- which is the optimal strategy to tackle Coronary artery disease in India. The SAHRUDAYA programme aims to provide this to oursociety

Who needs cardiac rehab?

Any patient who has been started on cardiac medications or undergone cardiac procedures (angioplasty/surgery). This includes the entire spectrum of coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure and adults with congenital heart disease.

The aim for these patients is to bring them to the normal working society with a renewed confidence of reducing future cardiac risk and reducing long term financial expenses spent for cardiac care.
